Privacy & accessibility
What we do, and don’t do, with your data.
Privacy matters to every student practicing something vulnerable. For some, it matters even more — students whose visa status, family circumstances, or background make any digital trace feel especially exposed. We don’t ask for any of that in your account. And we keep the transcripts and feedback from what you practice — but never the audio itself. This page is the plain-language commitment to keeping it yours. It is not a legal privacy policy; that one comes later, with proper review.
What we collect.
NextAnswer is in early development — we’re a waitlist today, and the scored interview product launches at Seattle University in October 2026. So we want to be specific about what we collect today versus what we will collect once the product is live.
Today, while NextAnswer is a waitlist
- The email address you give us when you join the waitlist.
- An optional referrer code from the URL (e.g.
?ref=trio) if a partner org sent you — so we know which student org sent the most signups. - When something breaks, a diagnostic error report — what failed and where in our code — goes to our error-tracking service, Sentry, so we can fix it. It’s configured to leave you out of it: no personal information attached, no request contents, and no session replay of your screen.
When scored interviews ship later
- Your account info via our auth provider (Clerk) — email and a session.
- Your spoken answers — transcribed to text in real time. We keep the transcript, not the audio recording.
- The transcript of what you said, your scores, and the coaching notes on your report.
- The setup info you give per session — target role, pasted job description, optional resume bullets — so the interview can be tailored.
- Billing information through Stripe (we never see your card; Stripe handles that directly).
No tracking pixels. No third-party analytics that share your behavior with ad networks. When we add product analytics (PostHog), it runs in privacy-conscious mode and stays inside our own account.
What we don’t do.
These aren’t aspirations. They’re commitments. If any of these change, this page changes first.
- We never sell your data. There’s no version of NextAnswer where we do.
- We never share what you practice with employers or universities. NextAnswer is a private practice space. Your school’s career center doesn’t see your sessions. The companies you’re interviewing with don’t see your sessions.
- Visa-conversation practice content stays private. With anyone. Ever. The visa module exists so you can rehearse OPT, STEM, and H1B wording without anyone watching. It is not shared, sold, surfaced to employers, or used to train any model.
- We don’t claim to identify you by your voice. No biometric voiceprints. We use audio to transcribe what you said and score pace, pauses, and clarity — not to recognize a unique speaker. Voice recordings are not biometric identifiers in our product.
- We never penalize accents. Speech clarity scoring measures intelligibility — your speaking pace, your long pauses, and how often filler words show up. That is the whole list. It does not measure how “American” you sound, and the score deliberately ignores how confidently our speech-to-text recognized your words, because that number is lower for speakers the software has heard less of. We reject any rubric that correlates with native-speaker status independent of intelligibility.
- We don’t score your video, body language, or facial expressions. NextAnswer is voice-first. There is no video pipeline.
How long we keep your data, and how to delete it.
Retention windows
- Your audio: not stored at all. Your spoken answers are transcribed as you speak and the recording is discarded immediately — there’s nothing to keep or delete.
- Transcripts and feedback reports: kept while your account is active so you can review them. Deletable any time.
- Waitlist email: kept until you ask us to remove it, or until we send the launch announcement and you choose not to sign up.
- Billing records: Stripe holds payment records as long as required for tax and accounting (typically a few years). We can disconnect your NextAnswer account from those records on request.
How to delete your data
From the settings page, you can delete your whole account at any time — which removes your profile, transcripts, and reports from our database and, if you subscribed, cancels your plan and disconnects your billing record at Stripe. Because we never store your audio, there’s nothing else to erase. The deletion runs right then, and we verify it end-to-end before launch.
For now, while NextAnswer is a waitlist, email alex@chaski.ai to be removed. A real human (Alex) will reply.
Accessibility commitments.
Accessibility is a non-negotiable rule on this project, not an afterthought. The founder is visually challenged, our audience includes students with a wide range of access needs, and the whole point of NextAnswer is to widen access to interview prep.
- WCAG 2.1 AA is the target, across the marketing surface and the product. We run automated checks (axe-core) on every change and a manual audit before launch.
- Keyboard navigation works everywhere. You can tab through every interactive element, with visible focus, and never get stuck on a control you can’t leave.
- Screen readers are first-class. Real semantic HTML and ARIA where it actually helps — not as a sticker over a div soup.
- No time-based interactions. Nothing disappears, advances, or counts down on you. The mock interview moves at your pace.
- Reduced motion is honored. If your system asks for reduced motion, animations and scrolling effects are disabled.
- Practice mode exists for users who can’t or don’t want to use the microphone. Read the question, type your answer, get coaching. No voice required, no charge, no session limit.
- No accent-based penalties in scoring. (Repeating from the “don’t do” list because it lives on both sides of the line.)
Security posture, in plain terms.
We’re a small team and we want to be honest about what that means. Authentication is handled by Clerk, a dedicated identity provider, so we never store your password. Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Data at rest is encrypted by our database (Postgres on Neon). Server secrets are stored with Vercel’s sensitive flag and rotated on suspicion of compromise. Payment information is handled by Stripe directly — we don’t see card numbers.
We do not have SOC 2 certification. We do not have ISO 27001. If those matter for your school or workplace, we’ll tell you that up front rather than implying otherwise.
Questions about your data?
Email alex@chaski.ai. A real person (Alex, the founder) reads it. Whether you want to delete something, ask how a feature works, or push back on something on this page, that’s the right address.
